W. Bro. Coby Hankins 2024-2025

Welcome to the Verulam Lodge website. I’m Coby Hankins and it is a privilege to be the Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the next twelve months. I am the youngest Worshipful Master in the history of the Lodge and when I was initiated into freemasonry I was just 18 years of age. My father initiated me, and now at our recent installation meeting he installed me into the office of Worshipful Master, we both felt immense pride. So on this website I propose to explain what a Freemason is, tell you about our lodge history, what we do and explain our charitable work and hope that you might be encouraged to learn more and possibly to join us.

Verulam is a friendly Lodge established in 1945, and located in the Masonic Province of Hertfordshire. We meet at Ashwell House in St Albans, and are warranted by the United Grand Lodge of England, and are one of the oldest Lodges in the Province.

I hope our website will give you an insight into freemasonry and in particular Verulam Lodge.

If you would like more information on the history of Verulam Lodge or freemasonry in general please click on the history or FAQ tabs.

Where and when do we meet?

Unlike many Lodges who meet on weekdays, our meetings are held on Saturdays starting at 4.30pm. Over the years this has proved very popular as work pressures preclude many people who would otherwise like to become Freemasons. The meetings last between one and two hours and are followed by dinner, and we meet at Ashwell House, 167 Verulam Road, St Albans, Herts, AL3 4DW

Our meeting dates are as follows: 3rd Saturday in October (Installation) then 3rd Saturday, in January. March, April and May.
